The Main Man In My Life

You know, aside from the Lord of coarse... I'm taking a note from a friend that I met in Indy - Here's your shout-out Court! Her blog is "I like to Mosey," check it out over in my blog roll... Very funny and entertaining.. Anyways, her post on her hubby, Stone, was great and inspired me to do the same on Mathias... I'm going to do a post on Matt and then one on Cyd... Eventually, I'm going to do one on my faith, but I want to think that one through so I can articulate appropriately what the Lord means to me. It's not something that you can really put into words and do it justice, but I want to try... I know that it can be controversial and that's NOT what I'm intending.... I just thought some of you would like to know where my heart lies first and foremost. I'm getting off the subject, this one is for MJN and I'll go through the rest in thier respective posts! Sorry! Consider it your heads up, b/c it's coming! ;-) Thanks Kasie for that idea...

My ode to Matt:

They say that when you're looking for your "mate," you end up with someone like your parents and I can most certainly attest that Matt is so much like my dad... Maybe not in the "handyman" skills (he makes up for that in his spreadsheet skills...hahaha!), but his heart and love for others couldn't be more genuine (like my pops, however, my dad has had a little bit more success in keeping his hair... dang navinsula! hehe...)... This may sound hokey, but he truly makes me want to be a better person just being with or around him... He's one of the "good guys" that I thought I would never find... He's inspiring, he lifts me up when I'm down or lifts me even higher when I thought it wasn't possible, he makes a bad day good and a good day even better.. There's nothing better than KNOWING you're loved and not having to doubt or worry about it... I know this man loves me and that's a peace in my heart that is inexplainable... This is another one that you can't really do justice in writing it down.... It's crazy b/c you think you love someone with all of your heart, but my love for him just keeps growing each.and.every.day. Then, we are blessed with Cydni...and my heart melts even more when he's with her... I know there are so many good hubby's out there, but in my book, you can't get better than Matt. Another hokey statement, but sometimes we literally are thinking about the exact same things! He'll start a sentence, and I'll be like, "That JUST went through my head!" Seriously! I know, I'm gay...

It's amazing to look back at where we started...all the ups and downs... I wouldn't change it for the world, b/c it's made us a stronger couple and made us the couple that we are... I know we're far from figuring things out, as we've only been married for 4 years (together for almost 8), but we have forever to keep learning and trying....

I do have to attribute a lot of our succes in our marriage to having a mutual respect and love for the Lord. It puts our doubts, fears, worries, loves, praises, etc. all on the same playing field. We know, first and foremost, to look to the Lord in good times and bad, and trust that He already knows what's going on, instead of trying to control it ourselves... All of that "stuff" is out of our hands. There's nothing better than praying for someone or a situation and seeing that prayer come full circle... Obviously, not all prayers have been answered, and there's ALWAYS a reason for it that you won't understand until the Lord is ready to reveal it.... all.about.faith.in.the.Lord.

He's amazing... for me, and that's all that matters! Thank you Lord for intertwining our paths 10 years ago!!! Here's to you, Matt... Thank you for being... well, you.

Funny glimpse into the way Matt thinks... We all know that he's frugal...and that's a generous statement (however, he did just go out buy himself (us) a nice tv)... Well, onto the subject at hand... He HATES Hallmark...or any card making place, any card, anything that you have to spend money on that you can just do yourself... --- His take on such places is that they're "fleecing" America. Why in the sam H*** would you go buy a $4-$5 card when you can just simply write them down on a piece of paper and give it to them... He thinks that means so much more (which it does)! ---- One of the many reasons why I love this man. You just have to laugh sometimes.. He's right though, my heart melts when he actually takes the time to write out his thoughts and feelings to me. I will cherish my love letters forever. I have them all...and the cards he's broken down and bought! ;-)

The End to the story... The fairytale - my version of it - continues...

Sorry folks, no pics this time.. Just look over on the right hand side and his smile says it all...

Andrea! Hello! Yes, I remember you from that Derby party (no, that boyfriend wasn't Scott-haha!), and I believe we met another time or 2 (probably through Brooke), and I know Matt from high school. We actually went to prom together, not me with him-ha!, but as a group with some friends of mine....waaaay back in the day! ha!

That's hysterical that you 'found' my Mom. Yes, she is a very speical woman, as is my sister! I hit the JACKPOT when it came to having amazing women in my life.

I was looking at your blog, your daughter is DARLING by the way, and I saw that you have Hoehn cousins. Now, here is where this might get interesting! haha! Are you related to the Hoehn's?? My Mom is a Hoehn! She was married to Ron Hoehn for many years when I was younger. His whole family is out in Harrison County. Ray and Birdie are his parents.

Well, I will have to add your blog to my list. Blogging is SO addictive, isn't it!? I am so glad you said hello!

And what a lucky man he is. You are so good at letting him know in words how much he means to you. I could take a few pointers from you.
I am so happy to be able to catch up with you daily (not that we don't already :)
Love ya,
Brooke
P.S. Your "it" TAG!!
